उनका राजकुमार उच्च महाशक्ति निराजन वीर विक्रम शाह, उनका महिमा राजा वीरेन्द्र वीर विक्रम शाह देव र महारानी ऐश्वर्य राज्य लक्ष्मी देवी शाहका कान्छा छोरा थिए। सिंहासनको दोस्रो उत्तराधिकारीका रूपमा, राजकुमारलाई शासन र राजनीतिप्रति विशेष चासो थिएन, तर उनले देशको परिस्थितिबारे आफूलाई जानकार राख्ने गर्थे।
एक नियमित युवा जस्तो मनमा, उनका राजकुमार उच्च महाशक्ति खेलकुद, गाडी चलाउने र आफ्ना साथीहरूसँग समय बिताउन मन पराउँथे। उनी अझै २० को दशकको शुरुमै थिए, तर उनलाई संरक्षण र वन्यजीवप्रति गहिरो चासो थियो। उनका काका, त्यस समयका राजकुमार उच्च महाशक्ति ज्ञानेन्द्रबाट प्रेरित भइ, राजकुमार निराजनले ताजे पानीका गंगेय डल्फिनहरूको संरक्षण गर्न एक कार्यक्रम शुरू गर्न चाहन्थे।
EARLY LIFE
Prince Nirajan Bir Bikram Shah was born on 6 November 1978. He was the third child and second son of Their Majesties King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev and Queen Aishwarya Rajya Lakshmi Devi Shah. He had an elder brother, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah and a sister, Her Royal Highness Princess Shruti Rajya Lakshmi Devi Rana.
Like his siblings, the young Prince attended Kanti Ishwari Sishu Vidhyalaya for his primary schooling. He was later educated at Budhanilkantha School, Kathmandu. In 1995, he enrolled into Eton College for his A-Levels. After graduation, he returned to Nepal for a degree in BBA from Kathmandu College of Management.

Personal Interest
His Royal Highness Prince Nirajan Bir Bikram Shah was interested in sports, especially swimming. He was a junior swimming champion at Kathmandu’s Budhanilkantha School. Like his brother, he too wanted to contribute to the development of sports in Nepal, and was actively seeking a role at the National Sports Council.
Prince Nirajan was also interested in conservation and wildlife. Inspired by his uncle, the then His Royal Highness Prince Gyanendra, Prince Nirajan wanted to start a conservation program to protect freshwater Gangetic dolphins.

A Life Cut Too Short
On 1 June 2001, His Royal Highness Prince Nirajan Bir Bikram Shah fell victim to the Royal massacre. He was among the ten royals who passed away that unfateful day, including his parents and sister. He was only 22 years old and was preparing for his BBA final exams.
