HRH Crown Princess Himani Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Himani Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah was born Princess Himani Singh of Sikar. When His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev ascended the throne of Nepal, HRH Prince Paras Bir Bikram Shah was given the title of Crown Prince of Nepal and subsequently Princess Himani was bestowed with the title of Crown Princess. Outside of her royal duties, HRH Crown Princess Himani is a doting mother and philanthropist.

Outside of her royal duties, HRH the Crown Princess is known for her philanthropic work. In 2010, she established Himani Trust, a non-profit and apolitical non-governmental organization.

EARLY LIFE

Rajkumari Himani was born on 1 October 1976 to the royal family of Sikar. She is the second daughter of Shri Rao Raja Bikram Singh, the 12th King of Sikar and head of the family of Raoji clan and Rani Bipula Singh. Her sisters are Rajkumari Reshma Singh and Rajkumari Aparna Singh, both doctors.

Rajkumari Himani was educated in Kathmandu and completed her intermediate in Commerce from Galaxy Public School.

FAMILY LIFE

Rajkumari Himani was married to HRH Prince Paras on 25 January 2000. The following year, on 26 October 2001, Prince Paras was appointed Crown Prince of Nepal. She subsequently became the Crown Princess of Nepal. They have three children: HRH Purnika Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah, HRH Hridayendra Bir Bikram Shah and HRH Kritika Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah.

WORK AS THE CROWN PRINCESS

As the Crown Princess, Her Royal Highness was an active member of the royal family. She supported a number of charitable causes and organizations, and represented Her Majesty and the Royal Family as part of her royal duties. She often accompanied her husband, HRH Crown Prince Paras in royal engagements within the country and abroad.

Outside of her royal duties, the Crown Princess is known for her philanthropic work. In 2010, she established Himani Trust, a non-profit and apolitical non-governmental organization. The trust works towards uplifting the quality of life in important sectors such as sustainable livelihood, children, education, health, senior citizens, environment and natural disasters.

During 2015, the Crown Princess observed and collected information about the earthquake resistant building built by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to help rebuild earthquake resistant buildings in earthquake hit Gorkha. On December 9, 2016, the trust in partnership with the Buddhist Association of Japan funded the construction of a school building of Bhawani Secondary School, in Palungtar of Gorkha district.

As President of Himani Trust, the former Crown Princess unveiled a book entitled Sandesh Sangraha, a compilation of speeches delivered by her father-in-law and King Gyanendra. It was announced that all the proceeds of the book sales would go towards a disaster relief fund for the victims of natural disasters.

In recognition of her philanthropic efforts, Her Royal Highness was awarded the Gusi Peace Prize International Awards 2023 in Manila, Philippines on 30 November 2023.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

When Her Royal Highness is not busy with royal engagements or her responsibilities at the Himani Trust, she enjoys cooking. She is a cook certified by the prestigious Cordon Bleu institute.
